Objectives and Routine
Birth - 2 years

photo3.jpgEach infant deserves to be cared for in a way that is especially tailored for him or her rather than a structured program that they must adjust to. Each child will have a primary caregiver with whom the child and his/her parents can establish and develop a special relationship of mutual trust and respect. Every child will be cared for in a warm, loving manner that best suits his/her individual nature.

An infants routine day (according to developmental stage) will include: greeting of infants and discuss with parents the previous night and morning prior to arrival, sensory experiences, texture books, cuddly toys, toys with visual stimulation, development of small motor skills, grasping, reaching, exploring, visual stimulation through interaction with caregiver and other infants, simple books and pictures. Large motor skill development, crawling, rolling, turning over, pulling self up and cruising in preparation for walking. Language development - sign language, music, songs, listening and responding to caregiver's words. Outside time if weather is permitting. Meals in a quiet, unhurried atmosphere. Discussion of infant's day with parents.

Children that are walking up to age 2 years will be provided with activities that develop their natural curiosity and imagination. Small motor skills will include play with manipulatives such as large legos, blocks, nesting toys, simple puzzles, interactive toys, grasping large crayons and griping paint brushes. Large motor skills are developed through climbing structures, riding toys, balls, and push toys. Imagination and knowledge of their world through dramatic play with dolls, trucks, stuffed animals, dishes and play food. Verbal and socialization skills are developed through interaction with the caregivers, other children, storybooks, music and song. Daily Routine includes fine motor skill development, morning snack, large motor skills, outside playtime, stories, lunch, naptime, afternoon snack, art activity, music and movement, review the day with parents.

Braves
2 years - 3 years

photo4.jpgPhysical development - increasing coordination, walks, runs, jumps, and may hop, throws a ball, begins to toilet self during the day, takes off/puts on own jacket, Language development-recognizes some colors, begins to recognize own name, recites ABC’s, increases vocabulary, uses simple sentences, likes to listen to short stories, knows own name, teachers name & children in class. Math readiness-recognizes some numbers, recognizes circle, triangle, and square. Music development-enjoys listening to music, participates in musical activities, can recite songs and finger plays. Art development-Holds scissors properly, begins cutting, increases eye hand coordination through coloring and painting, can draw a circle, line, use paste or glue. Fine motor skills- completes simple puzzles, threads beads, and lace in and out. Self-reliance skills-begins to toilet self, can put on/take off own coat, recognizes personal cubbie, can put personal possessions in cubbie, and return toys to containers.

Daily routine includes Good morning circle time, songs, calendar, weather share from home, stories from books, bathroom, diaper changes, learning activity that includes fine motor skills and language development, art, free play, snack, outside time, music, movement and lunch.

Chiefs
3 years - 4 years

photo2.jpgPhysical development - Walks with coordination, learns to communicate pottying needs, performs simple finger plays, kicks a ball, can catch ball from short distance. Language Development and Reading Readiness-enjoys listening to stories, recognizes alphabet letters, recognizes colors, expresses him/herself orally, expanding vocabulary, knows and recognizes own name, knows teachers and classmates names, prints own name, knows days of the week, knows right from left, demonstrates positions on, under, behind, in front, beside, at the top, bottom, recognizes differences, recites the days of the week, months of the year. Math readiness- recognizes numbers 1-20, begins rote counting, learns and identifies shapes, can put items in sequential order. Art development- holds and cuts on lines with scissors, holds pencil, markers, and crayons correctly, colors within the lines, enjoys exploring art materials and their usage. Socio-emotional Adjustment and Personal habits-Plays with and interacts with other children, begins to use imagination during play, responds to guidance and follows simple directions, begins to increase his/her attention span.

Daily Routine includes Circle time, Name friends song, Calendar, counting, Days of the Week, Months of the Year in English and Spanish, Classroom Rules, Flag salute, Color Poster in English and Spanish, Listen to a story, Sharing From Home on Friday, Free play with toys and games, table time learning activities vary each day, art projects, Zoo Phonics: (sounds and actions for each letter of the alphabet), Recess, snack. Hand washing is enforced after using the restroom and before and after eating snacks and lunch, and after coughing or using a tissue.

Pre-K (Pre-kindergarten)
4 years - 5 years
Ratio 1:12

Language arts and Reading readiness-listening and following directions, recognize and print name, recognize and print alphabet, phonics, reading comprehension, Sequencing, classification, recognize primary colors, basic shapes, sign language. Small motor development - cut on a line with scissors and hold pencil correctly. Math readiness-recognize numbers, count to 100, print numbers 1-15 number classification and relationship skills. Self-expression through art, puppets, dramatic play, story dictation. Social development through group play and activities, interaction with other students in the classroom and on the playground.

Routine includes - discuss morning activities, calendar; days of the week, months of the year, flag salute, review alphabet, numbers to 100, sign language, phonics, learning activities, reading comprehension by listening to stories from chapter books and orally answering questions, flash cards, art projects, snack, free choice, outside.
